Project One Raised Bed Frame

MATERIALS :

Cut the pickets in four 4 foot lengths and four 2 foot lengths to make a 4ft by 2ft bed or cut to a lengths to fit your needs. Once you lay out the frame just dig out under the bricks so the top of the brick is even with the top of 2 stacked pickets. Mine totaled about 5 1/2 inches. This doesn't leave much brick in the ground so I decided to tie the bricks together with some coated wire at ground level so it wouldn't be easily noticed. Once the bricks are backfilled and tamped tight the coated wire really helps to hold it together. I then put one staple in the top of the pickets where they meet at the 90 degree angle. Now if one of your pickets rots out you just have to remove the bad picket without having to disassemble the whole bed. Good luck trying this out.
